Writing an Argumentative Essay 500 words
Standardised testing is common in schools.
A standardised examination is used as a metric for learning as it pinpoints students†areas for improvement. It also gives an evaluation of students†academic performance. However, the claim that ‘everyone is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid†has become a hot topic in education. Write an argumentative essay to discuss if standardised testing should be supported or abolished.
Your essay should follow the following:
• Content: an extended definition on ‘standardised testingâ€, a main argument and supporting arguments with relevant evidence / examples / explanations to support your stance
• Structure: a clear thesis statement (the main argument), effective topic sentences, supporting arguments and an evaluative conclusion
• Convention: an argumentative essay written in an academic style.
You must include at least 4 reference sources: 3 from print sources, e.g. books, reports, journal articles and 1 from web-based sources e.g. web articles, blogs, information from corporation websites. Use APA 7th edition referencing style to properly reference the cited materials (the in-text citations and a reference list).
