Steps to Write an Article Review
Here’s how to write a paper review:
Step 1 – Write the title.
First, create a title that clearly reflects your main focus. The title can be interrogative, descriptive or declarative.
Step 2 Cite The Article.
Next, create a proper reference for the article you have just reviewed and then enter it after the title. The most important thing at this stage is to follow the instructions of your instructor regarding the style of citation. An example of an MLA article citation should be as follows:
Last and first names of the author. “The title of this article.” Journal title and issue (publication date): page(s). Print
Step 3 – Article Identification.
You must include your identification after your citation:
- Title of the article
- Title of the journal
- Year of publication
This information should all be included in your first paragraph.
Step 4 – Introduction.
It is crucial to show organization when you are assigned such a task. To make your writing process more efficient, outline your assignment.
- Start by writing an introduction. This will include the title of the article and the thesis.
- Continue the discussion with a summary that summarizes the key points of the article.
- Highlight the positive aspects of the publication.
- Critique the publication by identifying gaps and contradictions in the text as well as disparities, and unanswered queries.
Step 5 Summarize Article.
You can summarize the article by rereading the material. Notify the author of any pertinent facts or findings. In this section, include the conclusions of the author.
Step 6: Critique It.
Describe the strengths and weaknesses of the publication. The knowledge the author has brought to the field is important. Write about any contradictions or gaps you find in the article. You can support or deny the author’s claims, but you should back up your arguments by facts and theories that pertain to that particular area of knowledge. You can also use templates and rubrics to grade and evaluate the author of the article.
Step 7 – Write a Conclusion.
This section will review the key points of your article, your findings, and your criticism. Write about the validity, accuracy, and relevance to the article review. Provide a roadmap for future research in this field. These are some tips to keep in mind before you submit your article.
- Highlight the most important points as you read the article. This will allow you to identify the main argument of the article and the evidence supporting it.
- Use evidence from sources as you write your review to support your point. Direct quotations are the best way to do this.
- Use direct quotations sparingly and select the right quotes and supporting evidence. Spend time reading the article.
- To avoid plagiarising your article, you should use a parenthetical reference whenever you refer to a publication.
- After you have finished writing your piece, re-read it. This will allow you to spot mistakes in grammar and any other flaws within your organization.
- Get a second opinion from a spell-checker to check your paper.
